Donald Ray Crawford passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on April 20, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Don was blessed with a loving family. He married Patricia Crawford (Finnegan) on May 20, 1967. Together they had two children, Christine (Dan) Sweeney and Greg (Channa) Crawford. His pride and joy were his four grandchildren: Connor, Mckenna, Collin and Caden. He was preceded in death by his mother Cleda (Joe) Geisz, sisters Wanda (Don) Burland, Peggy (Jim) Denningmann, Joan Rodgers and brother Bill. Dear brother-in-law of Joanella Crawford and Rose (Mike) Finnegan, special uncle and cherished friend to many!
Don served in the US Army from 1963 to 1966. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War as a helicopter mechanic. He worked with his hands his entire life, and he seemed to know how to fix anything. Even if he didn’t, he would give his opinion on how to do it! He was passionate about cars. He was a fan of the St. Louis Blues and Cardinals. When his children were younger, he spent many days on the soccer and baseball fields coaching. He left a memory of never-ending teasing all of his nieces and nephews. Now it’s their turn to honor his legacy and keep it going!
A military service honoring the life of Don will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on May 11, 2022 at 10:30AM. A celebration of his life will immediately follow at Cafe Telegraph.
