Melinda Elizabeth Forrester (nee Strange), of Wood River, Illinois passed away peacefully on January 3rd at 50 years of age in St. Louis, Missouri, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family as the Lord brought her home.
Mindy was born at St. John’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri on March 13th 1973. Mindy loved to tell people she was a Friday the 13th baby and because of this every Friday the 13th was a special day for her.
For Mindy, family was her everything. The Lord blessed Mindy with an extensive extended family. But her pride and joy was of course, her immediate family. In May of 2000, Mindy married her soul mate, Michael Forrester. She became a loving mother to her two sons, Jesse James (30) and John Michael (25). Mikey and Courtney blessed Mindy with 2 beautiful granddaughters, Olivia Elaine (4) and Kolbie Lee (11 months). Mindy adored these little bundles of joy and she was just so proud to be their Grammy! They were “her heart.”
Mindy had a deep and meaningful relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She honored the Lord with a servant’s heart, always putting the needs of others before her own. She praised Jesus for His sacrificial love and grace that He extended to her. She was recently baptized at The Crossing Church in Chesterfield, Missouri. Being born again in Christ, Mindy’s goal was to touch the hearts of all her loved ones with God’s hope and love.
Melinda is joined in heaven with her beloved father John Henry Strange and treasured siblings Amy Soar and Jeffrey Mueller. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents Kenneth and Norma Hunt & Harry and Virginia (nee Herzog) Strange, her father and mother-in-law John & Shirley Forrester and many other loved family & close friends.
She is survived by her devoted parents Thomas and Carolyn (nee Hunt) Mueller of St. Paul, Missouri, and Sue Strange of Wentzville Missouri, as well as her cherished siblings Cindy (Scott) Richey, Kristy (Andy) Albert, Shelly Jones, Sarah Harris, Dena (Quinn) Martin, John Strange, Tyson (Wendy) Mueller, Joshua Strange, Shana (Bradley) Maurer, Tommy (Nicole) Mueller, her brother and sister-in-laws Eric Soar, Kevin (Krista) Forrester, Pam (John) Burns, Jeffrey (Kassie) Forrester, and great lifelong friend Gaye Pruett. She was also the special aunt to her many adored nieces and nephews.
A visitation with the family and service will be held at Mathias’ Lot Church located at 2645 West Clay Street, St. Charles Missouri, on Sunday, January 14th. Doors for visitation will open at 2:00 PM with a service honoring Mindy starting at 3:00 PM. Refreshments and food will immediately follow the service.
